WORLD CHANGERS IN TOWN:

FOR SOME 750 STUDENTS, 2016’S SUMMER OF FUN MEANS HELPING CLEVELAND, OHIO

Many students spend their summer break soaking in rays at the beach or lounging around the house, some 750 junior high and high school-age students will be hard at work during a six week community service project in CLEVELAND, JUNE 11TH- July 22nd.  “P2 Missions,” an initiative of LifeWay Christian Resources (Southern Baptist Convention), is bringing a group of 750 students to Cleveland, Ohio. They will be covering areas from Painesville to Westlake, downtown Cleveland, south to Ravenna and Medina. There will be a particular focus on the Cleveland neighborhoods of Kinsman, Buckeye, Clark Fulton, and Old Brooklyn.

This Week, June 11th-June 17th is the beginning of a six-week summer program where the students will be participating in projects include painting homes, building handicap ramps, rebuilding garages, and roofs, in addition to many kid’s camps, sports camps, and other community events like block parties in the Cleveland community.

P2 Missions participants learn what serving others really means throughout the week.

The students and adults who participate in P2 Missions have a desire to serve and grow in their ability to meet the needs of communities.

Working in this city is a way to demonstrate that students can get out of their comfort zone, work hard and help others.

Through activities like a sports camp for kids who are looking for something to do while their parents are at work or picking up trash at a local park, P2 Participants are here to serve!

This summer, more than 2500 students are registered to participate in 41 P2 Missions projects across the United States.

Sponsored by LifeWay Christian Resources in Nashville, Tennessee, P2 Missions includes not only this week in Cleveland, but also in locations like Indianapolis, New York City, St. Louis, Philadelphia and Cincinnati.
